About Dr. Katalina Ramirez
A certified Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in the state of California, Dr. Katalina Ramirez graduated from the University of Minnesota's School of Dentistry in 1997. Dr. Ramirez has operated her private pediatric dental facility in Redwood Shores, California, since 2003.
Dr. Ramirez first began her pursuit of a dental career in Bogota, Colombia, during 1987 when she enrolled in Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, one of the oldest Columbian universities. She earned her dentist's license before she transferred to University of Minnesota. She has held memberships with various dental and pediatric dentistry associations from as far back as 1995, including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
After earning her Master of Science (MS) and certification in pediatric dentistry from University of Minnesota, Dr. Katalina Ramirez went on to dedicate time to more than half a dozen community service centers, giving a wide array of presentations and lectures at different universities and clinics across the country, and authoring multiple articles for academic journals. Dr. Katalina Ramirez has more than six years of experience working as an Assistant Professor, Teaching Assistant, and Clinical Instructor at University of Minnesota and University of the Pacific, acting as Course Director for several classes and serving as a member of the Student Appeals Committee.
When she has time, Dr. Katalina Ramirez visits elementary schools in the Redwood Shores area, teaching children about oral hygiene and dental health. Her facility's website offers information on scheduling appointments, what to do in the event of a dental emergency, and general tips to help parents better understand their children's dental needs in order to prepare them for trips to the dentist. Dr. Ramirez's office includes several televisions to help patients feel comfortable, and for younger children, she demonstrates what they should do by using stuffed animals and other kid-friendly tools.
